- The southernmost point of the Continental US – located only 90 miles away from Cuba, the famous buoy is also a place where you can take amazing photos. On top of the monument, you will see the emblem of The Conch Republic. Wanting to celebrate its free will and fun-loving spirit, Key West separated from the US in the 70’ declaring itself The Conch Republic.
